The plan for my photoshoot was to have my model dressed in the snow in a red outfit. I brought the candy cane socks from ann summers, and found the matching red dress in New Look, I also had a glittery hat and curled my models hair as this was similar to other models wearing a santa like costume.

Exploring ideas for double page spread
When searching for relevant sites which I could get ideas from, I found one that offered tutorials on magazines using indesign. I thought this was good as it showed me what was possible when using indesign.

One particular aspect I found which I want to use in my magazine is to wrap text around the image:

This looks effective and makes the magazine look professional and attractive to read which is important.

Double Page initial ideas
Here are some double page spreads I found of Cheryl Coles exclusives. Some ideas I found out from these are that it is good to have striking images as they attract your attention first and make you want to read on. Another good point from these magazines is that its exclusive interviews finding out about the celebrities life for example Cheryls Amazing Year. There may not be alot of writing but the images also speak for themselves. www.cherylcole.com/gallery

Swagger Font Styles
Here are some possible fonts I linked for the logo/name of my magazine. I found these fonts on www.dafont.com and searched for urban looking writing to reflect the RnB theme. My favourite font is the 6th image which is called 'aaaiight! Fat' as it is easy to read, would appeal to my target audience and would reflect the RnB theme well.

Research for My Music Magazine
During my Proposal the feedback was suggested to research into an R&B magazine because I had surveyed which magazines sixth formers already bought but needed to look into my actual genre.
Here are some magazine covers by VIBE which is an R&B magazine.

All of these magazines show that the facial expressions are important in RnB to show attitude, tey are not pictured to be smiling but aggressive an with attitude. All of the images are shown to be promiscuous with their outfits. They all include an exclusive guest star for the front cover. The star is also shown to be in front of the logo which I like and will include on my magazine. The background is plain which is a good aspect of these magazines as it doesn't distract you away from the guest star or writing. I may do this but I also like the idea of having a natural background.
This is the finished copied NME cover
This is our copied magazine
This is the finished magazine cover we made compared with the original. I found this challenge hard trying to match the exact magazine. I learned alot of new skills on indesign, and learned to measure up the magazine to use the maximum possible space and how to make different objects. Although the magazine didn't turn out as good as the original, I am happy with the outcome, the improvements would be to choose better people to be the guest stars as well as making the image brighter.
Copying an NME front cover
Our task was to copy this magazine. During the making we learned how to change the colour of pictures using colour picker, we also found it important to measure up the magazine to get accuracy. When choosing our models we had to look for the same characteristics, someone who could copy the poses and who looked as near as possible. The task was a challenge and the complicated parts such as the Rock and Riot part in the top right hand corner look the longest but I learned many skills when making it which I can use in my music magazine. We also learned how to make text transparent, learned how to make the text closer together and how to get a red splash of paint made on photoshop.
These are the photos we took on our photo shoot. We took a few so we had more to choose from, we did close and further away ones so we could edit them to get the best possible photo.
